Adam revisits the topic of calipers in this quick show and tell, recapping the many different ways he uses dial calipers in his machining work and builds. But it’s also the first time in almost 20 years that Adam has also bought a new pair of dial calipers for the shop, and takes a moment to share this beautiful set of six-inch Starrett dial calipers!

Great video and great information
why inches vs metric?…
A recent work project got me back into making, and I just sprung for a lightly used (heirloom) Brown & Sharpe 599 571-1 dial caliper. It’s almost identical to the one Dad taught me to use as a kid. So smooth, a delight to use, and as I am starting to get into 3D modeling & printing, I feel I can justify this instrument. It also connect me with the good times I had with Dad, a “maker” before it was cool. (I think I’ll spring for the micrometer also. 😊)
You can get a dual hand set from SPI for $127 for the 6” and $160 for the 8”
