A recent work project got me back into making, and I just sprung for a lightly used (heirloom) Brown & Sharpe 599 571-1 dial caliper. It’s almost identical to the one Dad taught me to use as a kid. So smooth, a delight to use, and as I am starting to get into 3D modeling & printing, I feel I can justify this instrument. It also connect me with the good times I had with Dad, a “maker” before it was cool. (I think I’ll spring for the micrometer also. 😊)
