  1. The only caliper regularly used by real engineers is a precision vernier height gauge and this is used in conjunction with a surface table or plate. In practice calipers are easy to misuse leading to inaccurate measurements so real engineers tend to refer to them as ‘Very Near Gages’

  2. Thank you for the tips, I actually never knew about the step or the depth. Now my calipers became so much more useful than I knew 😄
